Big Changes

Things moved quickly these last couple weeks.

The last few windows arrived and were installed.
I'm really going to enjoy the two side windows that open.  Jeff isn't a fan of screen doors so these will allow air flow.  Although the front of the house faces North, the windows above will let in light.

The front door and interior doors were delivered.  The interior doors are knotty Alder and will be lightly stained.

The front door has beautiful dental moulding.

 drywall has been primed,

and interior & exterior  paint colors are being finalized.  Pretty much the same interior colors we have now.

Exterior trim will be painted to match the window frames and the Hardie Siding will be painted a soft green.

Garage doors have been installed.

Interior trim should start this week.  Cabinets should also arrive soon.

It's been a few weeks and the drywall has been hung, taped & sanded.  Trim and paint will come next.  I made a video tour of the place but can't get them to post.  Besides it's very quarters and just looks like a lot of drywall close up, haha!

The Hardie Plank Siding is going up.

We are pretty set on a shade of green (NOT the green you see here) with dark brown trim to compliment the brown window frames.  I'd post the colors here but the online colors don't look anything like the colors we have chosen.

I think have made our exterior stone choice......(less grout/mortar).

Floor tile.....

Daltile - Ayers Rock ceramic tile in Rustic Remnant color

And Hardwood floors......(Hickory 6" plank)

We don't plan to do a lot of landscaping.  Matter of fact Jeff doesn't even want to have any grass.  We'd like a very rustic 'house in the woods' landscape.   My plan is to try and have as many native trees & shrubs as possible to reduce the need for spraying, fertilizing or trimming.  We plan to replace the poplars and maples that had to be removed due to lightning strike damage (we've installed lightning protection on the house) and placement of the house.  I'd like to add a couple flowering trees for Spring color to start.

It's coming along!  Completion date should be sometime end of May early June :)

First Snow

It was pretty but it didn't last long.   We are at about 2,100' above sea level here, about 1,000' higher than the "...
